Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»police have arrested a man who allegedly threatened to commit murder.
On June 19 at 12:30 p.m., the man called 911 and told police he had a knife and "was heading to a park near Thurlow and Comox streets to kill someone" who previously assaulted him, according to a Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»Police Department (VPD) news release.
Multiple VPD officers, including crisis negotiators and members of the Emergency Response Team, searched for the man throughout the West End.
The officers found the suspect sitting on a beach on David Street at Thurlow, roughly three blocks from the park.
Police believed the suspect was armed with a knife and planning to commit murder. After he "repeatedly failed to comply" with lawful commands, the responding officers deployed a Taser and beanbag rounds.
Bradley McElroy has now been charged with uttering threats. He's been released from court and will appear again on July 3.
A video captured by a bystander of the VPD arrest has been widely shared on social media, including TikTok and Instagram.
The VPD says the man wasn't injured.
