B.C.'s Provincial Health Services Authority has announced that the first baby born in our province in 2021 came into the world at 12:21 a.m. this morning, in Vancouver.
Delivered at BC Women’s Hospital & Health Centre on Oak Street, the yet-to-be-named girl is the daughter of Catherine Harrison and Darcy Doberstein, of Vancouver.
We're told that mother and baby are doing well.
The median weight of newborns in B.C. is around 7 lbs 3.5 oz, so here's hoping the fact that this one came in at an almost perfectly average 7 lbs 4 oz is a sign of an utterly normal year to come.
Happy New Year, dear readers.
