Environment Canada is predicting up to 100 mm of rain for Metro Vancouver, with some areas seeing even more of the wet stuff.
A rainfall warning remains in effect Wednesday (Jan. 12) and the federal agency is cautioning people to be aware of localized flooding as another atmospheric river has arrived with lots of rain.
"Heavy downpours can cause flash floods and water pooling on roads. Don't approach washouts near rivers, creeks and culverts," states Environment Canada.
Between 75 and 100 mm of rain is expected through late afternoon Wednesday. More rain may fall in the North Shore mountains than elsewhere in the Metro region.
The concern for flooding is due in part to melting snow, as snow levels will rise today.
"Snowmelt over higher elevations as freezing levels climb will contribute to runoff which may result in high stream levels and localized flooding," warns Environment Canada.
Rain intensity will decrease overnight and tomorrow, Jan. 13, is only expected to see some showers.
