Surrey RCMP say two vehicles were lit on fire on purpose.

RCMP are investigating the arson of two vehicles last week.

On March 11, at 2:40 a.m., Mounties were called to assist firefighters who were working to douse two vehicles on fire in a driveway in the Fraser Heights neighbourhood near Guildford in Surrey, according to a press release.

"Based on an inspection it was determined that the vehicles were intentionally lit on fire," police say in the media statement. "Although this incident appears to be targeted, a motive has not yet been determined and the vehicle owners are not known to police."

Investigators were able to collect footage from the area showing two suspects arriving at the scene on the 17700-block of 1010 Avenue on foot.

"It appeared that one of the suspects inadvertently lit themselves on fire, so they may have sustained some injuries," police note in the release.

However, no suspects have been located, and police are looking for help from the public.

We understand that members of the community have questions and concerns about an arson occurring in their neighborhood, says Corp. Vanessa Munn in a press release. Our investigators are actively working to collect evidence that would enable them to answer those questions.

Anyone who knows anything about the case is asked to call the Surrey RCMP at 1-604-599-0502. Alternatively, anonymous tips can be called into Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
