With today's news that TSN 1040 would no longer be a sports radio station, Vancouverites have voiced plenty of displeasure with the decision.
It was announced earlier today, and quickly took effect. After goodbyes from some on-air staff the song 'Good Riddance' from Green Day began to play.
Annnnnnd probably not the move playing a song called “Good Riddance” right after you can everyone. Yikes

And then Vancouver's Twitter community blew up.
I am speechless.

you guys are amazing. The love and support means the world. We had something really special going. I’m trying to keep up with the calls, texts & DMs. It’s overwhelming quite frankly. Will do my best to respond. Thanks doesn’t even begin to cover it.

Just turned on AM1040 in 麻豆传媒映画to hear all music - notably ‘Hear Comes the Sun.’ 鈽癸笍My heart goes out to all the TSN workers at the (now former) sports stations in Vancouver, Hamilton and Winnipeg.

An absolutely brutal loss. I love AM radio and the great content TSN1040 in 麻豆传媒映画has produced has been taken off the air. What a loss.

This tweet won’t help one bit - but a lot of very talented people lost their jobs today. Thinking of the entire team at - a very dark day for 麻豆传媒映画& Canadian media.

Some were thankful for what TSN 1040 had brought:
Thoughts are with everyone associated with TSN 1040. Have been a listener since the TEAM 1040 days, even upon moving to Toronto ten years ago. Outstanding talent and great Canucks coverage. Thank you for helping keep this listener informed and entertained.
— Eric Buchegger (@ericbuchegger)
I’ve been listening to since I was 8 years old when my dad would put it on the radio when he would drive me to school. I’ve been hooked to local sports radio ever since and for a period of time I wanted to pursue a career in radio because of 1040.

More were angry:
Who is the nameless, faceless ghoul they brought in to record this robotic bloodbath, hollow message. JFC Bell Let's talk indeed.

Take millions of taxpayer dollars designed to prevent layoffs, make profit, layoff tons of people anyway.
Pathetic.
You just made a horrible mistake . I will be ending my phone contract with you today.

Absolutely shocked is done. A staple in 麻豆传媒映画sports for my whole life. Saddened for all the amazing talent that I had the chance to work with. Horrible day for 麻豆传媒映画radio.

A couple made jokes:
Jim Benning: Doing his best to upset the 麻豆传媒映画Market
— Graham Blakeney (@GrahamBlakeney)
Bell: Hold my Beer
Others looked for a new way to replace what was lost:
Thought: we start a GoFundMe or similar to create a new, independent sports radio station/streaming service for 麻豆传媒映画a la the origins of Team1040. 1/...

The local sports media scene shared their disappointment that one of the major pillars in the region had fallen; even though TSN 1040 could be considered a competitor.
Hearing about and am just in shock. So many great talents and people that work there. I’m at a loss for words as to what to say. My hope is that they will all land on their feet. Too good of talent not to.

It didn't just affect locals, either.
To my many radio in friends in Winnipeg, 麻豆传媒映画and Hamilton, thank you for the conversations, laughs and on-air disagreements over the years. I cut my teeth in this business in radio and to see so many talented folks impacted is heart wrenching. Best to all.

I grew up without cable on Haida Gwaii, listening to Canucks and Giants games on . Those broadcasts, in my living room, made me feel like I was there even though I never went to a live game until I was 18. To the voices who inspired me to chase my dream: thank you.
