A wildfire burning northwest of Yellowknife resulted in a city-wide evacuation of roughly 20,000 people last week.

Thirty-five patients escaping Yellowknife during the evacuation arrived on a Royal Canadian Air Force plane at 12:32 a.m. on Aug. 19 where paramedics waited to take them to local hospitals.

According to BC Emergency Health Services (BCEHS) on social media platform X (formerly Twitter), 10 patients were transferred to Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»Coastal Health, nine to Fraser Health and 16 to Providence Health hospitals.

“Thanks to all partners who contributed to supporting our neighbours from the Northwest Territories, resulting in their safe arrival,” said BCEHS on a social media post.
