Hot temps and humidity across the Lower Mainland have prompted Environment Canada to issue an air quality advisory for the region.
The advisory covers eastern sections of Metro Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»and the Fraser Valley, broken down as follows:
- Metro Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»- NE
- Metro Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»- SE
- Fraser Valley - central including Chilliwack
- Fraser Valley - east including Hope
- Fraser Valley - west including Abbotsford
The hot and humid weather conditions are creating elevated pollution levels, cautions Environment Canada, and the region is experiencing "high concentrations of ground level ozone."
Among those who should take extra precautions are children, the elderly, and those who have underlying medical conditions such as lung or heart disease.
Environment Canada adds that Monday's high concentrations of ground level ozone are expected to carry on through the day and "potentially longer as the hot weather continues."
On Sunday, over a dozen high temp records were broken across B.C., including in some locations in and around Metro Vancouver.
