The B.C. Conservation Officer Service (BCCOS) is investigating after another coyote incident at Stanley Park involving a child.

The 5-year-old boy was bitten last night around 9:30 p.m. at Prospect Point. His family was walking at the point when he ran ahead, at which point a coyote lunged at him, according to the BCCOS.

His parents reacted quickly and chased the coyote away. The boy was taken to the hospital with minor injuries and has since been released.

"The COS continues to urge the public to stay out of Stanley Park – if you are in the park, use abundant caution, as there is a high risk of encountering an aggressive coyote," writes the services in a social media post.

Officers with the BCCOS will be in the park today.

Attacks have sharply increased in the park this year. In response, the BCCOS has used traps and in July killed four coyotes in the park.
