Spanish retail giant Zara is notorious for never offering discounts, instead saving all of the deals for annual sales.
Each June Zara puts on a summer sale that starts at 25 per cent off and then lowers the prices over the course of the sale until some things are as low as 90 per cent off. It's a great time to snap up anything you've had your eye on or to jump on the bandwagon of some trendy pieces that are more of a gamble when you're paying full price.
Zara is also notorious for not restocking items when they sell out - but that's because they really don't need to. The company has come under fire more than once for the sheer volume of new designs that they produce. It can also make the back catalogue quite overwhelming so we've sifted through the site and added the clothes and accessories that we think are the best deals to our cart (we've only selected things that are available in more than one size).
Here's what we're coveting.
Boots
Zara shoes are 55 per cent off at the moment (they will probably come down in price even more as the sale goes on). You've probably heard a lot about the that are taking the internet by storm but I think the real unsung hero of this sale is the . Specifically the ones in white. Originally $229, they are now on sale for $99.99.
People have summer on the brain and they're buying up but I'm playing the long game and looking for pieces that are out of season and therefore the most discounted. Autumn, winter, and spring will come again and I will be dressed head to toe without ever paying full retail.
Coats
Speaking of colder weather returning, the coats are another good area of the sale to look into. Many of them are ranging from 45 to 65 per cent off. Most of the coats can be found in classic silhouettes with clean lines, like this . My pick, however, is this It comes in pink or blue and acts as a transitional piece from fall to spring plus it's $100 off.
Blazers
The return to offices has had an interesting effect on fashion trends. It's prompted the rise of the cool blazer for people who want to be work-appropriate without sacrificing individuality. Zara has released a collection of cropped, textured, and fun-coloured blazers as well as a few blazer dresses. My favourite for-work outfit in the sale is this with a V-neck, miniskirt hemline and long sleeves for only $50.
And my runner-up is literally anyone of the , I think the look of tailored pants with a cropped blazer is effortless chic with a hint of edge, you cannot go wrong. And all of them are on sale right now in different colours and fabrics.
Dresses
As I said, once something sells out at Zara that's it, which means if the TikTok girlies get their hands on something, good luck to the rest of us (RIP my chances of ever owning the sparkle crop top). This happens most often to Zara's best dresses. Wedding season combined with TikTok has drained all of the good picks from this section but there is one outlier that has survived and is currently on sale for $70, down from $129. has a lapel collar, cuffed sleeves and a cutout detail at the waist with a flowy A-line skirt. It can easily be dressed up or down.
Pants
The Y2K revival has heralded the latest age of funky pants and to be honest, we're not mad about it. Statement pants are a perfect way to make a simple outfit look more considered and stylish. The Zara sale has lots of different styles and fabrics on offer but our two picks cover the bases for day and night, work and play. The with their high waist, subtle texture and fun print are perfect for a casual work look. They can be paired with an aforementioned cropped blazer or a plain white T-shirt.
Our other pick plays around with fabric for a look that's more suited to a night out at a bar. The are high-waisted but with ribbon details that wrap around to further accentuate the waist. The pale pearlescent grey makes them versatile but they would look amazing with a bralette and open blazer. The best part of both of these pants is that they come in at under $40 each.
Tops/Bodysuits
Corset detailing is all the rage and therefore a huge chunk of the Zara sale is made up of tops and body suits with these elements. is versatile as it is but include a bustier effect and suddenly you have a sultry yet sophisticated piece that can be easily turned into an outfit with black pants.
is super wearable which can't be said about most corset things (unless that's really your vibe). The thin straps are adjustable and there's an underwire for added support. It would look great as a pop of colour with white or light wash denim on colder summer days or in the spring. For a summer outfit, pair it with a miniskirt.
Lastly, isn't suited for summer but could be a wardrobe staple in the fall. The square neck, long sleeves, and back cut-out detail give it visual interest along with the corset-esque boning but it's plain enough to be an everyday piece with jeans.
And all three are only $20.
