Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»designer elevated crochet and tie-dye resort wear has been featured high-profile fashion mags like Vogue, Sports Illustrated, and Haper's Bazaar to name a few. Her designs capture two sides of B.C.'s coastal attitude with both bold and brilliant pieces and demure minimalist looks. The swimwear, cover-ups, and dresses look at home on the beaches of Tofino but also in five-star resorts in Saint Lucia or Mexico.
Now for a limited time this summer, Anna Kosturova is bringing the beach to Gastown with a pop-up that features her work IRL alongside other women-owned companies such as Malvados, Pour L'air, and Bay of Arches.
Kosturova says that after the pandemic they "found the pop-up format to work the best for our company, giving us the opportunity to build a sense of community and engage with our customers directly." The space took over an old David's Tea and transformed it into a surf lounge meets boho boutique that celebrates interior design as much as it does fashion.
Kosturova says she "takes an artisanal approach to beachwear." Made from 100% cotton or silk, each piece is sustainable and environment-minded. She adds, that her pieces are “definitely not fast, disposable fashion, but something to be kept in a modern heirloom way, like works of art you collect over the years.” She even has a collection of wedding dresses and a bridal line that is perfect for honeymoon fits. The other beachy apparel, accessories, and homewares that will all be under one roof take the same approach.
People can also expect to find stunning versions of vacation essentials like hats and sunglasses (sunglass chains, too), handmade jewellery, and flip flops from Malvados, candles from Pour L'air, and handwoven bags by Boostani. Plus Bay of Arches Macrame home decor like throws, pillowcases, and shell plant hangers.
The pop-up is on now and runs until the end of August but if we're lucky it may even stick around until September.
