The Waterfront was a punk venue below a rooming house located at 686 Powell Street at Heatley when this film was made in the 1980s by Emily Carr student Cary Heuchert. At one time the building also served as the Bows and Arrows Hall for native longshoremen, which I聽聽a while back. After the liquor license was moved to Granville Street, the building sat derelict for years, but has recently聽聽and will be renovated.

A short film unseen for nearly 30 years, 鈥淭he Waterfront鈥� is a visual documentary from April 1984, directed by Cary Heuchert. The Waterfront was a nightclub located on Powell Street in Vancouver, Canada. During it鈥檚 early 1980鈥檚 heyday, many local and international bands such as The Enigmas, The Debutantes, and Alien Sex Fiend played there. The soundtrack music, 鈥淒aybreak鈥� is an original classical guitar piece, written in late 1983, and performed specifically for this film. A new version of the song was recorded in 2011, for Cary鈥檚 2012 album, 鈥淣octurna and Other Stories鈥�.
