Still the “world championship”of tennis despite the apparent low turnout, the American Zone stage of the Davis Cup was held at the 鶹ýӳLawn Tennis and Badminton Club in 1953 because the Japanese team insisted on grass courts, and none were available in the United States. The courts did not help, however; the Americans dominated, and went on to win the final against Belgium, which was held in Australia.
