Serene centre. A place of elegance, the Asian Studies Centre at the University of British Columbia began to take shape in 1974 and was finally completed in 1981. Also housing the Asian Studies Library, the centre—originally the Sanyo pavilion at Expo 70 in Osaka, Japan—has proved to be a popular hub for research and learning.
