In February of 1925, New Zealand’s national rugby team, the All Blacks, played a game in Vancouver.
The stop was the last on the team’s tour across Canada, part of a larger world tour in which they won every single game. The event was the largest sporting event Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»had seen, as 9,000 spectators watched the All Blacks beat a local team 49-0.
The team left behind a trophy which is still awarded as the New Zealand Shield to the Lower Mainland’s high school rugby champion each year. Above is a photo of the match, taken by North Vancouver’s Jack Loutet.
