Another great find in the City of Vancouver's Archives today! Labelled as "A huge log near the corner of Georgia Street and Seymour Street" this photo brings us back 91 years before the Scotia Tower was erected near this spot. Land baron J.W.

Another great find in the City of Vancouver's Archives today! Labelled as "A huge log near the corner of Georgia Street and Seymour Street" this photo brings us back 91 years before the Scotia Tower was erected near this spot. Land baron J.W. Horne's company took down this beast (I believe that's him standing atop it) and it was likely close to the same height as the office tower which now stands at 138 metres. The California Redwoods are currently the largest trees in the world, standing at 90 metres, and the old growth fir that stood in what is now Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»were (obviously) similarly massive before we mowed them down to make a city here.
