I had a wonderful meeting at our downtown office yesterday with Dave Peterson and Devon Knight, pictured below holding an incredible gift they brought us.
Devon recently reached out by email asking if I knew of anybody who was associated with the 25th Anniversary celebration for EXPO 86 that we co-produced with Science World in 2011 (info on it is ). She was wondering if anyone might be interested in taking this original dry mounted poster off her hands as she no longer had a place for it in her home but couldn't bear to see it go somewhere that it might not be fully appreciated. I told her that we would absolutely love to hang it on our wall here at 410-535 Thurlow, and to my joy her and Dave came by and dropped it off.
I always find it nice to break up my day of responding to emails, editing features, and talking on the phone with having people come in to our office and have face-to-face meetings/coffees, so I invited them to stay for a while and chat. I learned that they run an event planning company called and that back in 1986 Devon actually organized a number of special events for EXPO 86. Dave is her husband and they love Vancouver, they love traveling, and they're doing work with a number of interesting organizations, one being the Coquitlam River Watershed Roundtable. If they didn't win me over by having been a part of something I'm nearly obsessed with (EXPO 86), then gifting us a piece of it, I most certainly became a fan when they told me about this conservation project they're involved with. Devon and Dave are an awesome couple, genuinely kind folks, and I am indebted to them for this sweet piece of Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»that everyone who visits our office will now be able to enjoy.
