Sir Ernest MacMillan
A giant of Canadian music, Sir Ernest MacMillan, came to the city as a guest conductor of the Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»Symphony Orchestra. Sir Ernest was principal of the Toronto Conservatory of Music, dean of the faculty of music at the University of Toronto and conductor of the Toronto Symphony Orchestra. He’d become Sir Ernest the year before, the first person knighted outside the UK for contributions to music.
