Old photos posted on social media of operations at Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»International Airport have sparked many fond memories.
The colourized shots from the late 1950s were posted by Rob Johal on Facebook group “You Grew Up in Richmond, BC if you Remember…,” courtesy of Beth Thompson.
They show the old south terminal, with what Facebookers believe are a Connie and a DC6-B aircraft airside, complete with two 1958 Pontiacs in the parking lot.
And there was even the so-called “Buck Rogers" rocket mounted in the parking lot, which someone understood to have been moved to the Cambie Bridge in later years.
Many memories were shared on the post, including one person who remembers her homesick Dutch mother going to the airport when she knew a flight from Amsterdam was coming, just so she could hear people speaking her native tongue.
