A woman charged in connection with multiple alleged druggings of Lower Mainland men during escort service encounters has been banned from sex work during her release on bail.

Surrey RCMP said it launched an investigation in September 2021 after frontline officers linked a number of reports of men being drugged and having their belongings stolen while they were using an escort service.

In February 2021, one man died after allegedly being administered a substance during an encounter, according to police.

After a “multijurisdictional and complex” investigation into incidents in Burnaby, Surrey, Langley and Vancouver, police arrested 30-year-old Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»resident Jessica Nicole Renee Kane on Sept. 20.

She has since been charged with manslaughter, seven counts of administering a stupefying or overpowering drug or substance, six counts of theft over $5,000, one count of theft, four counts of fraud and two counts of extortion.

One pair of drugging and theft-over-$5,000 charges is related to an incident in Burnaby on June 19, according to court records.

Kane was released last Thursday on $50,000 bail with no deposit or sureties.

Under the conditions of her release, she is banned from contacting nine named individuals and from engaging in sex work.
