Choo-choo train? More like boo-hoo train.
Vancouver's beloved Stanley Park Ghost Train has been cancelled for a third consecutive year.
The Halloween train was first cancelled in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic, then in 2021 over coyote concerns. In 2022, the haunted train was confirmed to hit the tracks but was cancelled again just a few weeks later.
This year, the train will remain at the station for restoration work, shares the Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»Board of Parks and Recreation in an update issued Oct. 4.
"The vintage train equipment, some of which is more than 60 years old, requires specialized parts that are challenging to obtain," says the Park Board, However "all the necessary parts have been successfully acquired and teams are hard at work taking on additional repairs and testing to guarantee the train's safe operation to get it back in service as soon as possible."
The Park Board aims to repair the train by November (which may mean it could be up and chugging in time for the Bright Nights and Christmas train).
Those who were hoping for a ride on the spooky train can check out VanDusen Garden's which will transform the garden and maze with fall-themed festivities from Oct. 9 through Oct. 20.
