If you’re heading to one of the city’s parks or beaches for some fresh air this weekend, the 鶹ýӳPark Board has a message for you: Keep your distance.
While there’s no need for those self isolating to stay indoors at this stage of the COVID-19 pandemic, everyone needs to avoid being in close contact with others in order to prevent the spread of the virus—even while at the beach or park.
To that end, the Park Board is asking everyone to follow public health officials’ advice and stay at least two metres, or six feet, away from others at all times. It also recommends visiting its parks and beaches during “less busy times,” as well as limiting the number of visits to Vancouver’s parks and beaches in an effort to allow others to access them.
Our parks and beaches are beautiful today, but please visit responsibly: stay 2m apart. Our staff are installing signage at 240 parks and 166 playgrounds to help raise awareness. Together we can make a big difference in fighting COVID-19.

Other recommendations include:
-
Avoiding gathering in groups
-
Washing or sanitizing hands after touching communal surfaces
-
Limiting “high-touch” activities like volleyball or frisbee
-
Staying home if you feel sick (especially if you have a cough or fever)
Yesterday, The 鶹ýӳPark Board announced it was closing its playgrounds across the city immediately, in an effort to minimize public gatherings and the potential of risk to the community.
