A U.S. Coast Guard helicopter crew airlifted a teenager suffering a medical emergency off a fishing boat off the Washington state coast on Sunday.
The coast guard received an emergency call via VHF radio from the vessel’s captain and dispatched responders to the site about 100 kilometres west of Long Beach, Washington, near the Oregon border.
The aircrew launched from Astoria, Oregon, with a Life Flight Network nurse aboard, arrived on the scene and hoisted up the 17-year-old boy and then a family member, according to a post by the coast guard on the X social media platform.
The teen was taken to hospital in Portland for further medical care. The coast guard said Wednesday the patient’s condition was unknown.
