How much do you know about volcanoes?
Simon Fraser University.'s has launched the Volcanic Hazards Awareness and Knowledge Survey to gauge what folks in B.C. know and don't know about them.
The project is being launched in collaboration with the , which is the national governing organization that shares geoscientific information and undertakes research.
The survey is open to those 18 or older and takes 12 to 15 minutes to complete.
Survey results will help inform future volcano and volcanic risk-reduction educational resources, according to the study’s Yu Yen Pan, a PhD. candidate in the Department of Earth Sciences at SFU.
The hope is to reach a broad range of respondents with varying degrees of understanding about volcanoes, their behaviour and risks, she said.
The survey is open until March 31.
To encourage folks to participate, respondents will be entered into a prize draw for $20 gift cards.
