A Port Coquitlam restaurant renowned for its wings and ribs has flown the coop.
St. Louis Bar & Grill announced on its Facebook page Monday, March 11, that it’s permanently closed its location in the Fremont Village shopping complex.
“We thank the city of Port Coquitlam and surrounding community for their support,” said the post.
The restaurant had been open .
It was the first foray into British Columbia for the chain that launched in Toronto in 1992. In addition to 64 locations in Ontario, St. Louis Bar & Grill has seven restaurants in the Maritimes, one in Manitoba and five in Alberta.
In announcing their closure, the Port Coquitlam proprietors even quipped, “Please visit our nearest location in Calgary. (Unfortunately, they don’t deliver to B.C.).”
Customers quickly posted their dismay.
“Your dusted wings were so good,” said one.
“Best wings I’ve found in B.C.,” added another. “This is such a loss.”
When the Port Coquitlam restaurant , owner/operator Endre Szilagyi was optimistic about its concept, including early openings on Sundays during the NFL football season so customers could catch the league’s games from back east on its numerous big screen televisions.
“I’m so excited to be opening the first St. Louis Bar & Grill in B.C.,” Szilagyi told the Tri-City News.
“A lot of people know St. Louis and are really excited to finally be getting one close to home.”
