Investigators are searching for a man they believe has critical information into the fatal shooting of a teenage boy in Maple Ridge.
"Six months ago, an 18-year-old boy was killed. IHIT remains dedicated to bringing justice for his family and the community,” says Sgt. Timothy Pierotti of the Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT).
Back on Jan. 20, police located an 18-year-old boy suffering gunshot wounds at the scene of a collision in the 22200-block of 123 Avenue.
Shortly after, Ridge Meadows RCMP were called about a vehicle on fire just two kilometres away. Police believe the vehicle is connected to the shooting.
The teen succumbed to his injuries and died on Jan. 25.
On July 5, IHIT released a video and a photograph of a person of interest in the homicide investigation.
The footage was obtained from a store in Mission, B.C., shortly before the murder.
"We’re asking for the public’s assistance in identifying this individual, who we believe has critical information that can help further our investigation,” says Pierotti.
The person of interest is believed to be in his 20s and is described as a Caucasian man with light brown hair and brown eyes.
He was wearing black pants with a red ‘accent’ on the left leg and a grey Vans hoodie with ‘Get out and get lost’ logo.
