Lane closures on Lions Gate Bridge will impact North Shore traffic Saturday.

People travelling between the North Shore and Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»this weekend are again being warned of lane closures on Lions Gate Bridge.

The bridge and Stanley Park Causeway will be reduced to two lanes Saturday from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. while crews

Southbound pedestrians and cyclists will be detoured through Stanley Park and to the east side of the causeway/bridge, according to the Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure.

Trees in the park were particularly hard hit by a naturally occurring outbreak of Western hemlock looper moths. Their larvae feed on the needles of hemlock, Douglas fir and Western red cedar trees.

Recent droughts have also weakened the trees, which the Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»Parks Board is removing to mitigate public safety and wildfire risks.

“A significant portion of the park is affected, particularly near Lions Gate Bridge,” the Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»Parks Board states on its website. “This outbreak also affects parts of West and North Vancouver, where many trees are dying.”
