Police from multiple cities helped track down a suspect who fled from police in a stolen vehicle.

Surrey RCMP was first notified about the stolen vehicle on June 11 at 6 p.m.

The Surrey RCMP Gang Enforcement Team was able to track the vehicle and stop the driver in Surrey.

“As officers gave arrest commands, the driver reportedly fled in the vehicle,” says Cpl. James Mason.

The vehicle was later located abandoned in Richmond.

The Richmond RCMP Gang Enforcement Team and the Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»Police Department Gang Crime Unit assisted in finding the driver and he was arrested nearby.

"This was a multi-jurisdictional incident and highlights the coordination and collaboration of partner agencies to apprehend this individual,” says Mason.

Gurjot Singh Bhatti, 20, has been charged with possession of stolen property over $5,000, flight from police and driving while disqualified.

He remains in custody until his next court appearance.
