Is there a young tenor, baritone or bass in your house looking for an outlet for choral singing?
Young singers interested in being part of a male-voice choir are invited to take part in Chor Leoni’s MYVoice program, a free, 10-week choral experience for singers aged 12 and up.
The program takes place in four rehearsal locations around the Lower Mainland — Burnaby, Vancouver, Surrey and the North Shore — and ends with a performance on stage at the Chan Centre for the Arts as part of the VanMan Choral Summit.
Along the way, the young singers will have a chance to work with some of Vancouver’s top choral instructors, take part in workshops with Chor Leoni artistic director Erick Lichte and participate in Vancouver’s major male choral festival, the VanMan Summit, on May 13.
Rehearsals take place Tuesday evenings starting Feb. 21, from 7 to 9 p.m., and singers can sign up to take part at one of the four locations:
- MYVoice Burnaby: Burnaby Central Secondary, led by choral teacher Carrie Taylor
- MYVoice Vancouver: Killarney Secondary School, led by St. Thomas More Collegiate choir director Johnson Lui
- MYVoice North Shore: Seycove Secondary, led by Seycove choir director Melodie Langevin
- MYVoice Surrey: North Surrey Secondary, led by music teacher Jonathan Krueger
Singers from all four programs will also have a special massed rehearsal with Chor Leoni in March.
