A woman has been arrested after police caught her trying to sell tens of thousands of dollars worth of stolen clothing out of her Maple Ridge home.
Surrey RCMP North Community Response Unit started investigating after learning the woman was advertising stolen goods for sale on Facebook Marketplace.
"She is believed to have been selling items at a significant discount from the original retail prices,” says Cpl. James Mason.
The woman allegedly set up a retail-style storefront within her home to sell the stolen goods.
On June 14, police executed a search warrant at a house in the 10100-block of Jackson Road and discovered items estimated to be more than $43,000 in value.
Police arrested a woman and seized hundreds of designer brand jackets, tops, leggings and other sports and fashion items. A photo shared from the warrant shows piles of Lululemon Athletica clothing and Under Armour items.
Sgt. Nigel Pronger says if the deal is too good to be true, it probably is.
"We are asking buyers to be aware,” says Pronger.
Surrey RCMP is continuing to investigate and is asking anyone who purchased items from the Jackson Road location to contact police.
People are asking the public to report suspicious activity. Anyone with information can contact Surrey RCMP at 604-599-0502 and quote file number 2024-49449.
