Dwight William Kematch has consented to remain in custody.

The man charged with second-degree murder in connection with Vancouver’s first homicide of 2024 returns to provincial court March 1.

The body of Alexander Lo, 31, was found in a home near Vancouver’s Knight Street and East 33rd Avenue around 1 a.m. Jan. 28 after police were called.

Dwight William Kematch, 39, was arrested in the East Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»house when Lo was discovered, police said.

The case had been set for a bail hearing Feb. 9 but that was put over so defence lawyer Jim Heller could receive more disclosure on the file.

Judge Laura Bakan confirmed with Kematch that he consented to remain in custody.

Kematch appeared by video from North Fraser Pre-trial Centre.
