A woman in an accident told Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»police she was distracted putting on makeup.

A woman charged with impaired driving after her Land Rover hit a Tesla in June 2021 told police she was distracted at the time of the collision.

Oksanna Suvorov is charged with impaired driving and operating a motor vehicle with a blood alcohol level over .08.

A Crown prosecutor told Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»provincial court Judge Jennifer Oulton June 23 a police officer spoke with Suvorov at the scene.

"'I was putting on my makeup,'" the prosecutor told Oulton, of Suvorov's conversation with the officer July 25. "'I get distracted.'"

The prosecutor said the officer reported hearing no slurred speech but detected an odour of alcohol.

A joint submission to Oulton suggested a $2,000 fine, 18 months’ probation, a six-month driving prohibition, alcohol counselling and community service.

The judge suggested the case move to another courtroom so it could be resolved. That date will likely be set June 30.
