Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»International Airport (YVR) is hosting an airport-wide emergency exercise on Wednesday.

The emergency training exercise will simulate an aircraft incident, with nearly 200 people from local, regional, provincial and federal organizations taking part on Sept. 25.

YVR confirmed that operations will not be impacted by the exercise, but travellers should expect increased activity throughout the airport.

According to a YVR media statement, there may be smoke and emergency vehicles visible around Sea Island, specifically along Miller Road.

YVR's airfield, as well as facilities around the airport, will be used to practice emergency response plans with airlines, multiple aviation and related agencies, health authorities, emergency services and municipalities.

Participants in the exercise will be identified by vests, YVR baseball caps and/or name tags, and there will be signs posted around the airport with information.

"Safety and security are YVR’s top priorities," said YVR.

"Regular testing of its emergency management plan and training response personnel are integral to YVR’s emergency preparedness."
