A new Korean restaurant is gearing up to launch in Vancouver's Gastown neighbourhood, but before they open their doors, the restaurant is offering delivery through some major food apps.
Zoomak, named for the word for Korean taverns that served food and drink to travellers, has moved in at 52 Alexander St, replacing BB Korean Bistro.
The new restaurant aims to showcase "a unique and authentic Korean dining experience with a hint of a modern take on it."
On the menu are dishes like Japchae (stir-fried glass noodles), Braised Tofu Rice, and Jjam Bbong (noodles in a spicy seafood broth). Casual bites include wings and pork potstickers, as well as crispy fried rice cakes. Bigger "feasts" include the popular "KFC" aka Korean-style fried popcorn chicken, as well as Su-yuk (pork belly, braised kimchi, tofu) and a cuttlefish dish. Look for heaps of kimchi and fermented items in different varieties in the Ban-Chan section of the menu, like napa cabbage kimchi or daikon radish kimchi, or sake-preserved melon radish.
Currently, Zoomak is open for delivery orders daily from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. on UberEats and Doordash. The restaurant is aiming to open up within the next couple of weeks for dine-in service. Follow them on for updates.
