Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»is getting another unusual world first.
Sports Illustrated is arguably the world's most famous sports magazine, and now they're also in the restaurant game, as of Monday, Aug. 14.
The first location of their concept, the , is at 3340 Shrum Lane at UBC.
"We chose UBC’s Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»campus as home for the first Sports Illustrated Clubhouse because of its tight-knit and active community. Sports Illustrated has always had the power to bring people together through compelling storytelling," states leadership at Define Group, who are partnering on the concept with Sports Illustrated.
Prior to the Clubhouse the UBC location was home to one of the city's Biercraft locations, operated by the predecessor to Define Group.
For those wondering what the Define Group is, they are the company behind restaurant brands with Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»locations like OEB Breakfast Co., Pacific Poke, and Community Taps + Pizza. For its part, Biercraft remains operational at its SFU location, but its Commercial Drive outpost became a Community Taps + Pizza and its Cambie Street restaurant shuttered at the end of 2022.
The company describes the Sports Illustrated Clubhouse pub-restaurant as a "premium hospitality concept" and will be the brand's flagship location.
"The 4,600 square foot space features a dining room, lounge, wrap-around bar, and a patio, open to the central courtyard. There is also a private entertainment room," describes the company in a press release.
There's also plenty of room to watch the game, as well, with 27 LED screens and 12 TVs.
On the menu expect "elevated West Coast cuisine."
A grand opening date will follow Monday's launch on a date to be announced.
