Yesterday we kicked off our 5 part series with about the record breaking sockeye salmon run happening on the Fraser River right now. We're bringing you pretty much everything you need to know about it and today we're sharing a few of the places that you can buy some of this fish so you can prepare it for dinner (or breakfast, or lunch). This species of salmon is considered by many to be the most flavourful and, luckily for us, with the run being so abundant the prices are just right pretty much everywhere you go.

    Arguably the best seafood store in town, it's run by chef Robert Clark and one of the founding marine biologists from Ocean Wise, Mike McDermid. They know their stuff.

    Blue Comet Seafoods and other vendors are making Fraser River sockeye available at every Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»­Farmers Market right now. Look for the blue coolers.

  • Steveston Fisherman's Wharf

    The best place to get a whole fish right off the boat, but it's a bit of a drive. When the price is right you can get a whole one for $20 or 3 for $50. Most boats also have roe available for $5/pound.

  • False Creek Fisherman's Wharf

    Right next to Granville Island, you can buy fish right off of a few fishermen's boats.
