Some news fit to raise a glass to: Vancouver's acclaimed waterfront wine bar, the aptly named (or TWB, as it's known), has reopened its doors after a three-year pandemic-era hiatus.
An offshoot of veteran Yaletown French dining spot , TWB began in 2013 and earned a rep for being a go-to for by-the-glass or bottles thanks to it having "one of the largest wine selections on the continent."
So how many wines does TWB have? Wine lovers will find over 260 bottles there, including 125 wines available by the glass. In particular, TWB is renowned for its selection of sparkling wines and Champagnes, and its overall bounty of French labels - no surprise given the culinary focus of Provence.
In the past, TWB hosted fun food and drink-themed evenings, pairing bubbles with elevated comfort eats like hot dogs or fried chicken. The venue has a firm belief that bubbles "turn any occasion, whether meeting friends after work or dropping by after the game, into a mini-celebration," according to Provence Marinaside’s Wine Director Joshua Carlson.
Speaking of food, The Wine Bar will resume serving up small plates perfect for enjoying with their wines. That means nibbles like fresh oysters on the half-shell, Pomme Frites, Brown Butter Truffle Popcorn bucket, or cheese plates. The full Provence Marinaside menu is also available, and Happy/Tappy Hour will return daily to TWB from 3 to 5 p.m.
“We had to close TWB during the pandemic period as it’s a small space and we couldn’t make it work with the distancing restrictions. Now that all that has been lifted, we are looking forward to welcoming people back,” said Carlson in a media release.
TWB - The Wine Bar reopened officially on May 1 and is located next door to Provence Marinaside at 1167 Marinaside Cres. at the foot of Davie Street in Yaletown.
