A new pizza-by-the-slice shop is opening in downtown Vancouver. Pizza Avenue is a chain based in Surrey.

In an area dense with pizza slice options there will be another.

After Papa's Gourmet Pizza shut down its location at 547 Seymour St. earlier this year (they're ) into the downtown space.

It will be the first foray into the city's core for the burgeoning chain, which has four locations across Surrey is looking at franchising. The original Pizza Avenue restaurant location, in Cloverdale, opened in 2014. The chain's most recent, in South Surrey, opened a few months ago.

"We’re a family-owned and operated business and take pride in ensuring the highest quality standards to provide the best food for every order," they .

Along with a variety of pizzas they carry lasagna, chicken wings, and salads.

On its website, the company says the downtown Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»location will open in October 2023; they indicate a November debut. Given it's now December, it could be that opening is imminent, but the restaurant has not yet provided an updated date.

Papa's Gourmet Pizza, which has been around for more than 30 years, only had the Seymour Street location for a couple of years. Prior to that, the address was Pizza Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»and an FM Classic Pizza shop.

Pizza Avenue is entering one of the densest areas of pizza shops in Vancouver, maybe Canada. Just 100 metres away at the intersection of Seymour and West Pender there's PiCaDo and Pizza 2001, with a Freshslice and HellCrust each just a bit further. And Did's Pizza and Pi Co. Pizza Bar are a short distance south and west, respectively.
