Looking for a new place for pizza? There's a new music-inspired pizza place rocking the take-out game, and every pie sold helps out a worth cause.

Anthem Pizza is a "cloud kitchen" or "ghost kitchen" concept, which means it doesn't have a storefront of its own. No worries, because Anthem is available to order online, with pick-up at two 鶹ýӳlocations.

The venture of local restaurateur Matt Thompson (Cannibal Café, Park Drive, Alphabet City, The Five Point), Anthem takes its cue from current events and some serious tunes.

Anthem's menu includes 14" pizzas inspired by icons like Bowie (Hunky Dory: prosciutto, banana peppers, mozzarella and pineapple jam), The Beastie Boys (Sabotage: chorizo sausage, pepperoni, roasted chicken, prosciutto, mozzarella) and Iggy Pop (Blah Blah Blah: Alfredo sauce, mozzarella, fior di latte, Grana Padano, Provolone, EVOO). You can also build your own pizza with a choice of toppings, and can also sub-in a gluten-free crust if need be.

The pizzas are stashed in some unique boxes, featuring limited-edition artwork by David Bircham and other local artists.

Sides include salads and wings with dip, and there are canned soft drinks, too.

'Pizza with purpose'

Now the "" part: Anthem will be donating a portion of their proceeds from each pizza to a different cause each quarter.

To start, partial proceeds from the sale of all Anthem pizzas will be directed to the  and the , which helps Canadian musicians in times of hardship, illness or economic difficulties by providing counselling and emergency relief.

Throughout November, Anthem will also donate 10% of its proceeds from each pie sold to , a charity dedicated to addressing and advancing men’s health issues such as mental health and suicide prevention and prostate and testicular cancer.

“Every pie we’re putting out is made with a very important ingredient: purpose,” says Thompson. “The inspiration behind the creation of Anthem was not only to respond proactively to the COVID-19 pandemic by pivoting to a takeout-only model but also to do something good for local people and projects that need the love now more than ever. This is our Anthem — sung loud, hardcore and rebellious.”
