Known for their irreverent style, and outrageous ice cream treats, Toronto-based will finally open up a shop here in the Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»area.
Sweet Jesus is set to go into Metrotown in Burnaby, with plans to open up this summer.
The chain, which is operated by parent restaurant group , has been steadily expanding in and out of Toronto. Recently Sweet Jesus opened up in Edmonton, with plans already in the works to follow up with a second Edmonton location at the West Edmonton Mall.
Currently there are nine Sweet Jesus locations in Canada, and three seasonal locations as well as a permanent storefront in the Baltimore/Washington International Airport.
According to the website , Sweet Jesus "continues to target high profile street front units and kiosk sites in enclosed malls as well as some select markets including Yonge and Dundas in Toronto, Robson in downtown Vancouver, Whistler and Banff," which means there could be much more Sweet Jesus news in our future. Overseas, however, Sweet Jesus is adjusting their name to "Sweet Salvation."
Sweet Jesus is beloved for their eye-catching soft serve cones decked out in all sorts of colourful toppings, like the Birthday Cake (vanilla soft serve, cream cheese icing, birthday cake bits, rainbow sprinkles) and the Hella Nutella (chocolate and vanilla twist soft serve, Nutella sauce, wafer cookies, Corn Flakes, toasted pistachios). They also serve loaded shakes and hot chocolate, and pack their ice cream concoctions into take-out pints.
We've reached out to Metropolis at Metrotown and Monarchs & Misfits for additional details about their anticipated Burnaby opening. Earlier this week, Metrotown officials declined to comment about any impending openings (UPFATE: they have now confirmed with us the retailer is opening there), and Monarchs & Misfits has so far not returned any of our multiple inquiries over the past several days (they must be busy, busy folks!).
As soon as we get any more info about this we'll be sure to pass it on.
