A local business is opening its second location at Lougheed Town Centre this week: is coming to the mall’s food court today (Sept. 20).
The restaurant, which also has a location at 1716 Kingsway in Vancouver, is bringing its authentic Singaporean cuisine to an express location in North Burnaby.
Susan Teo, the owner of Shiok, said the food will be hawker’s dishes which can be made quickly.
The Lougheed menu includes snacks like chicken curry puffs, chwee kueh (steamed rice flour cakes with pickled radish) and mains including nyonya chicken curry and laksa, a spicy noodle dish.
For drinks, grab bandung (iced rose milk) or chin chow (an iced grass jelly drink).
Teo explained the restaurant’s name, Shiok, is a Singaporean word to express satisfaction.
“That’s what we hope people will say after they eat our food,” she said. “It’s so shiok – so good, so delicious.”
