A popular immersive film-going experience that pairs excellent food with a movie screening is returning to Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»this month.
, which offers a unique take on dinner-and-a-movie, will screen Bong Joon-Ho’s Academy Award-winning 2019 film Parasite on June 18 with a meal prepared by Chef Joël Watanabe of Michelin-starred Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»restaurant .
For the special one-night event, Watanabe will be "taking some of the most memorable moments from the film and putting them on the plate," via an inspired tasting menu that's served perfectly timed to select on-screen moments.
"With the added dimension of taste, this is an immersive cinematic experience."
With two screenings at 5:45 and 8:30 p.m., the event marks a triumphant return for the Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»movie-going and eating experience, which has been on pause for the past couple of years. Past screenings have included Amelie, Fantastic Mr. Fox, The Big Lebowski, and Spirited Away.
Sensory Cinema was launched in 2015 by Lizzy Karp, founder and co-creator of Rain City Chronicles, and Ken Tsui, event planner for the Chinatown Night Market, under their Here There Studios banner.
Organizers note that due to the nature of the event, they cannot accommodate dietary substitutions, and caution Watanabe's Parasite menu may include nuts, dairy, meat, gluten, and alcohol. The screening is 19+ only.
