Burnaby is home to many great hot pot establishments — your internationally renowned spots like Dolar Shop and Liuyishou Hotpot, your local favourites such as Gokudo Shabu Shabu and Big Way, and many more.
Eyeing a second location in Burnaby “very soon” is the fan favourite Big Way, known for its unique hot pot style, spiked bubble tea, and free soft serve ice cream.
Unlike other hot pot places with all-you-can-eat prices, — customizable individual hot pots where you pick from the plethora of ingredient options based on your dietary restrictions, put them in your bowl and choose your soup base.
Currently, Big Way hot pot operates at 7-4300 Kingsway in Burnaby, and the second will be just steps away.at the former Gokudo Shabu Shabu location at5-4250 Kingsway.
Although it does not have a specific opening date, it is expected to open in early February, co-owner Christiana Luo said.
The business is excited to expand its operations with more ingredient options and dishes. The current location has limited capacity, Luo said, leading to longer wait lists for customers dying to try the hot pot.
The new location will mean shorter wait times and better service, she said.
In addition to the Burnaby location, the business has also teased a new look — new logo, uniform, and takeaway bags — for the upcoming months, and has two additional locations in the works. Richmond will see the opening of a Big Way location soon, followed by a secret location downtown (if passersby look closely, they can get a glimpse of it, she said — "Signs are already up."
She noted the business uses separate fridges to keep vegan, vegetarian and meat items from coming into contact with each other.
In the meantime, those hoping to pay a visit to Big Way at its current location can check out its for wait list times and plan their trip accordingly.
