Each year, as grey days and drizzle give way to sunnier skies, Vancouverites await the springtime debut of one of the city's most popular patio hangouts, the Reflections garden terrace.
One of the biggest draws for locals and visitors alike at the storied , Reflections has earned its rep as a sophisticated sunny day go-to for elegant cocktails and food. In recent years, the popular patio-styled space has made the most of its off-season as well, transforming into a holiday-themed wintry hideout in the heart of the city dubbed the "Winter Terrace."
This year, however, Reflections is destined for a new look and status as a year-round patio space complete with a fully retractable roof. "Reflections Terrace will be reimagined to offer its beloved lively atmosphere beyond the warm weather season," notes a media release from the Rosewood Hotel Georgia.
Among the expected refreshed features of the reborn space will be a design that reflects the "lush landscapes enveloping the city, featuring light wood and deep green accents and biophilic interior design elements."
The upgrade is part of a massive renovation project underway at the Rosewood Hotel Georgia, which will see changes made to all 156 guest rooms, including its 22 suites, as well as alterations to the luxury stay's lobby and its 1927 Lobby Lounge restaurant.
Vancouver-based Ste. Marie Studio is taking the lead on the redesign of the 1927 Lobby Lounge and Reflections.
For its part, the expanded 1927 Lobby Lounge "will offer an exquisite version of fine dining and artisanal cocktails that weave in the rich narratives of Vancouver’s neighborhoods," describes the property's representatives. When it debuts with its refreshed look, the space will showcase live entertainment on select nights.
The hotel is currently closed to guests and visitors and is slated to re-open in April, however, Reflections will make its re-emergence in June.
During the hotel's renovations, the on-site restaurants Hawksworth and Bel Café will remain open for business. There has been no update in quite some time, though, about the status of the below-ground bar/nightclub venue that was previously known as Prohibition.
The venue shuttered during the pandemic; in May 2022 a new project called The Herrick (from the people behind Vancouver's award-winning Keefer Bar) was announced.
Update: A representative for the Rosewood Hotel Georgia has now clarified that the venue is under renovation but the project going in is not The Herrick, and that details about the new venture will be shared as completion nears.
