Oysters for brunch? Yes, please. And what better spot to go to than , the 鶹ýӳsibling of the Sunshine Coast original, with its newly-launched weekend brunch menu?
Located in Mount Pleasant at an admittedly land-locked address (3124 Main St) Smitty's is a go-to for freshly-shucked oysters, decadent seafood fare, and chill vibes. Whether you're hanging out inside around the bar or on the sun-drenched patio (if the weather gods are in your favour), the restaurant's seafood-centric selection of brunch dishes is a great way to start a weekend day.
Brunch at Smitty's is all about the basics, done well. You can sip on their signature house Caesar (adorned with a snowy mound of freshly grated horseradish and big, juicy, briny pickle chunk) and slurp back oysters, including ones from nearby Pacific waters or brought in from the east coast.
There's a bit of a "go big" mentality at brunch here, and the chef isn't shy about featuring components like buttery toasted bread, which you can enjoy in a classic BLT or as a stuffed brick of toast filled with steaming shrimp and lobster adorned with fresh avocado (a little balance is always appreciated). They've got a fantastic crabcake Benny with nice crab flavour and perfectly poached eggs, and they're doing potatoes justice with super thick hashbrown patties they fittingly call hash cakes and in house-made chips seasoned with seafood's best pal, Old Bay.
Speaking of "go big," if you're sharing a bigger order, your brunch appears on a big wooden platter, adding another fun interactive element to the weekend meal.
Brunch is served 11 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. on weekends at Smitty's Oyster House in Vancouver.
