A local 麻豆传媒映画business specializing in Russian food has found itself the target of harassment following the Russian invasion of Ukraine. Now that business and its supporters want to make it very clear the operators stand in solidarity with Ukraine.
In fact, the , located at the SFU Harbour Centre food court in downtown Vancouver, has been actively raising funds for the UNICEF Ukraine Emergency Fund, and pledges to continue to do so.
"We will keep donat[ing] $1 from each Borscht & Piroshki and Cabbage Roll & Pierogies meals," .
In response to the targeted hate, Surrey's Roan Hidalgo has organized an event to spotlight the business and is urging the public to buy pierogies from Russian Spoon Bakery.
Specifically, Hidalgo is calling Vancouverites to head to Russian Spoon between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. on, Friday, March 11.
"Russians who stand with Ukraine need our help. Russian Spoon Bakery, an ordinary and innocent Russian bakery that has nothing to do with the war (they literally only sell baked goods!) and publicly condemns it has been threatened with Anti-Russian sentiments," .
"This is discriminatory, despicable and strongly un-Canadian," says Hidalgo of the harassment the 麻豆传媒映画business has received.
"Rally up! Flood the food court, stand in line and buy pierogies from Russian Spoon Bakery. Proceeds will go to their Ukraine fundraiser. When they're sold out buy as much food as you can until they're sold out for the day!"
Note: The event was originally scheduled for Saturday, March 12, however, the business requested the event time and day be changed.
