British royalty collided with Canadian restaurant (and music!) royalty in a most delicious way this week, as visitors Prince Harry and his wife, Meghan Markle, dined at one of Vancouver's legendary restaurants during the couple's visit to the city.
"We were truly honoured to have Prince Harry and Meghan dine with us at Vij’s last night," shared on Friday (Feb. 16), captioning an image of the royal guests with chef/owner Vikram Vij.
The Michelin Guide-recommended Vij's, located for the past near-decade in an impressive space at 3106 Cambie St, is one of the city's most beloved and enduring modern Indian restaurants.
This year marks the 30th anniversary of Vij's. Vij has long been considered one of the Canada's most iconic chefs.
Harry and Meghan didn't dine alone, though. The royals were joined by a member of Canadian music royalty, Burnaby's own Michael Bublé, and his wife, Luisana Lopilato. Among the dishes landing on the table were Vij's signature lamb popsicles, one of the restaurant's most popular dishes.
The high-profile royal couple are in Vancouver to meet with Invictus Games athletes at a local curling rink, one year ahead of the competition.
The pair spent the past two days at an Invictus Games training camp in Whistler. On Thursday, Harry tried his hand at skeleton at the Whistler Sliding Centre, and afterward spent time chatting with some of the athletes who will compete at next year's Games.
The day before - Valentine's Day - found Harry and Meghan (the Duke and Duchess of Sussex) on the slopes and in the mountain community, meeting with several athletes.
Harry founded the Games for wounded, injured, or sick service personnel and veterans about a decade ago.
