Elevated toasts with preserves, Benton Bros. cheese, fresh B.C. produce and more top-quality ingredients will be on the menu at the stand-up "toast bar" at the Granville Island Public Market

When it comes to locally-made jams and preserves in the Lower Mainland, has been a staple for over two decades.

Now the business has come full-circle by returning to one of its original vending spaces: Vancouver's legendary Granville Island Public Market. Vista D'Oro's onsite shop-cafe space, , is expanding its reach with the launch of its  inside the iconic marketplace.

The Preservatory is now open for business in side the market from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.

The Langley-based farm and winery, which was purchased by Lee and Patrick Murphy in 1997, boasts orchards and vineyards, producing crops they deploy into their many products, including pickles and jams - all things preserves. Lee Murphy quite literally "wrote the book" on the subject; her was released in the spring of 2017.

Preservatory Provisions & Toast Bar is described by Lee and Patrick as "a hyper-local specialty food market and casual stand-up toast cafe."

Customers will be able to shop from shelves loaded with "preserves, pickles, honey, chocolates and so much more," offering what The Preservatory team says will be "a truly delicious slice of B.C."

For those in search of a light bite, the Toast Bar will feature a menu of  "elevated toasts highlighting The Preservatory preserves atop the freshest bread from the best local bakeries paired with B.C.’s bounty of seasonal veggies, herbs, artisanal cheese." The cheese will be supplied by Public Market neighbours Benton Bros, who were among the first to stock Vista D'Oro products (and still do).

The menu includes toast on a choice of three kinds of sourdough, brioche, or sprouted rye with toppings like charcuterie from the Market's Oyama Sausage, or house-made ricotta and preserves. And, of course, they're doing toast classics like avocado, cheese, or cinnamon sugar.
