Port Moody bakers selling 'mochi doughnut bouquets' in time for Valentine's Day

Stuck for a Valentine's Day gift? These small batch mochi doughnut bouquets may win the heart of your loved one. Plus partial proceeds support Share Society.

Popular Port Moody doughnut bakery is celebrating its one year-anniversary with a special gift bouquet in time for Valentine's Day.

Offered in flavours including Ube, Strawberry Shortcake, Raspberry Dark Chocolate, Lychee Rose, Vietnamese Coffee and Matcha, the bouquets can be of six and partial proceeds go to

"We want to establish ourselves more in the Tri-Cities area and bring awareness to the different causes.," said co-owner Kathy Nguyen.

"We like to inspire others to contribute and give back."

What are Mochi doughnuts?

Mochi dougnuts are gluten-free, lightly deep-fried and soft, flower-shaped doughnuts made from rice flour.

Nguyen and business partner Maria Adato quit their corporate jobswhich relocated to in Port Moody from Port Coquitlam because they needed a larger prep space.

"We've grown in volume," said Nguyen, noting that the business is now concentrating its market in the Tri-Cities area, a population seemingly in love with all kinds of desserts, including doughnuts.

The doughnuts are pre-ordered online for pick up at the Spring Street location in Port Moody and at Glenbrook Soda Fountain in Burnaby.

Holy Mochi doughnuts are also available via walk-ins at the Spring Street location only until they run out.

They are all made in small batches for the freshest, softest doughnuts, Nguyen said. 

A tasty gift for Valentine's Day

However, the Valentine's Day doughnuts are a limited offering.

This is the second year that Holy Mochi has sold the Valentine's Day bouquets: last year they sold out quickly, Nguyen said.

There are limited quantities available by . Pick up dates are Saturday, Feb. 11, Sunday, Feb. 12, Tuesday, Feb. 14.
