The Social Corner Group of restaurants has big plans for the next year.
The group, which currently operates Per se Social Corner on Homer Street and Acquafarina on West Georgia, is getting ready to open two coffee shops in 2023, one of which will transform into an intimate cocktail bar come sundown.
Both spots will be named some variation of Ciclo; is one of the concepts that currently operates under the umbrella of Per Se on Homer Street. The other will be Ciclo Espresso and Cocteles opening in Coal Harbour in the fall. The plan is to serve Italian espresso using their proprietary roast by day and Spanish-Italian cocktails by night.
The intimate 25-seat coffee bar (with a 15-seat patio) will be located on Cordova Street across from the Fairmont Pacific Rim with charcuterie and baked goods like biscotti and croissants available during the day. Social Corner Group's Bar Director Barry Jackson has developed a cocteles menu that pays homage to both Spain and Italy accompanied by tapas-style small bites.
Shortly after opening the first Ciclo, a second location is planned for 401 West Georgia, right next door to Aquafarina. This one will be called Ciclo Espresso and Focaccia and will actually be located inside a shipping container.
Ciclo Espresso and Focaccia will be takeaway only, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., offering--you guessed it--espresso and fresh focaccia sandwiches by French pastry chef Christopher Janik.
The final menu is still in development but Social Corner Group has teased Italian mortadella with pistachio mousse, and porchetta with truffle paste.
Additionally, the original Ciclo at Per Se in Yaletown will be renamed Ciclo Espresso and Biscotti. Chef Janik will be creating a biscotti-focused menu with 20 variations to choose from.
