The last plant-based pizza was sliced up Sunday (Sept. 25) at 's UBC location.
The all-vegan pizza-focused restaurant, which launched its Wesbrook Village outpost in early 2018, shared that same day on its social media that it would be their last at the location.
"We're so grateful for everyone in our community, from guests who come in every week to the countless neighbours in the village. It's been a challenging couple of years, and we wouldn't have been able to do any of it without your support. We're so honoured to have been a part of the UBC and Wesbrook communities over the past 4.5 years," shared Virtuous Pie on its Instagram account Sunday night.
Virtuous Pie entered the Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»vegan scene in 2016 with its first location in Chinatown on Main Street. The plan was from the get-go to expand, and expand they did; Virtuous Pie soon opened in Portland, Oregon, then followed with outposts in Toronto and Victoria - along with the one at UBC. The Toronto location, however, has since closed down.
Earlier this year, Virtuous Pie announced its plans to open its first location outside of North America, .
At the UBC Virtuous Pie, which occupied a substantial space on Shrum with high ceilings, lots of natural light and a big patio, diners could find the restaurant's familiar all-vegan pizza creations as well as some location-specific exclusives, alongside their signature ice cream, starters and sides, sweet treats and coffee drinks.
